Birthdays

Today is April 12, to most people this is just another day that happens to fall on a Monday. Well April 12 marks the birthdays of my father and also my good friend Nathan Hafer. I don't get too giddy about birthdays, don't know why just personal preference. I don't celebrate my own too much to me its just another day.

Below are a few things I like / dislike about birthdays, first with the things I like:

Skating parties -Back in the day it was always cool to have a skating party at Trout Pond Park down in Muncy (by the way they had this Gatorade gum stuff with like liquid stuff in the middle).

Pinatas - I mean who doesn't like beating the crap out of a paper animal with a bat that eventually explodes with candy.

People - its always a great way to hang out with friends and family

Now the things I don't like about birthdays:

Gifts - I don't like the fact that people get gifts, but I hate the fact how the only reason people like to have their own birthdays are to receive gifts, sota like people celebrate Christmas because they get gifts and forget why we celebrate it in the first place.

Pin the tail on the donkey - maybe the most overrated party game in the history of the world, just never thought it was fun or even interesting.

Cake - I like most is a fan of birthday cake, and if you aren't, get your pulse checked

Happy birthday you two, only one of your two will read this and I think we all know who that is. Last time my dad used a computer was never so maybe someday, maybe the same day he buys a cell phone.

Giving someone the bird

Last week as I was driving through the picturesk community of Newberry(west end of billtown), no bid deal, normal sunny day. What looked to be a gentlemanly older fellow driving in his olds approached the stop sign I was approaching as well. I got the four way stop sign first, but I had an eerie feeling. For some reason, I can't explain why I didn't continue driving throught stop sign, I eased out as the old man flew through the stop sign as if he had the right. At first I was like holy #:it I almost got killed by that old guy, even more to my amazement, the old bastard gave me the finger. I don't know if he was on a joy ride from the old folks home or what, but he was on a mission, and I was apparently standing in his way.

This story leads into a question I have thought about many times. When was flipping someone off first deemed bad? Like did Adam flip off Eve in the garden of Eden after talking him into eating the forbidden fruit? Do you think Joan of Arc gave everyone the bird before she was burned at the stake? You can go through the annals of history, but can we truely trace the origins of flipping someone off back to its original roots??

National Championship

Although I only watched the first 25 minutes and last 5, the rest I listened to on the radio, that was one of the best, if not the best championship game i have ever seen. The best of course was the year that the Cuse won it because if you don't know, I am a 'Cuse fan. If you don't know what the 'Cuse is you don't watch sports or you live in a cave in Indonesia. Anyway onto the game.

Credit the big 3 for Duke, they showed up in the biggest game of the year. Credit the rest of the Butler kids, they deserve to win that game, if Bobby Plump (a.ka. the original great player from Hoosiers, i.e. Milan h.s., a.k.a. Gordan Hayward) hits that fade away, let alone the 3 that went in he would be my favorite basketball player EVER.

I am going to close on this, Jim Nance needs to stick to golf. Gus Johnson brings passion and a feel for the game when doing the play by play while Jim Nance is trying to win an Emmy with every word he says and Clark Kellogg seems lost, which is strange because he played ball at the highest level.

Oh yeah, check the date on my previous post, who called it? Alright so a lot of people did, I just have proof.

Intro

I am sick and tired of writing thoughtful, creative, life changing, thought provoking and so on and so forth comments on Facebook each day in the very popular "Just a thought..." The biggest reason i am sick and tired of it is they only limit each of my posts to 420 characters. It is insane to think that I can thoroughly cover a topic in 420 characters. As I've posted before on Facebook, would you allow Picasso to only paint with 3 colors. I think not.

Hope you like this if not, I am not going to lose any sleep over it, I lose sleep or other things enough. This is all in good fun, very few things i will write about will be written with a serious tone, if I do I will be sure to let you know. So please no comments like that is messed up man, I can't believe you said that. I don't need all that, more importantly, if something on a blog post stresses you out that bad, you may have some deeper issues that may need to be addressed.

So this is good for the first post, starting Monday I will be posting on random things that put in my head from time to time and if you know me at all, that happens very randomly and all the time.

Time to head and watch the Final 4. Tom Izzo is hard to pick against, but I like Butler and Duke. Duke to win it all, that in itself is very painful.
